J/70 NSW Championship & J/Cup Australia #3 at Lake Macquarie

Lake Macquarie Yacht Club hosted the Zhik J/70 NSW Championship and J/Cup Australia #3 from 8-10 October 2026, bringing together thirteen J/70 crews for three days of competitive one-design racing on the waters of Lake Macquarie.
The event displayed the speed, teamwork and tactical skill that make J/70 racing so exciting. With close racing and crews competing for state championship honours and J/Cup points, the regatta provided a great opportunity for sailors to test themselves against strong competition in a welcoming club environment.
Hosted by Lake Macquarie Yacht Club, the championship also highlighted the club’s commitment to competitive sailing and its ability to bring visiting crews together for a quality regatta both on and off the water.
Anemology (RSYS), sailed by Kim Ketelbey, claimed the NSW State Championship and J/Cup Australia #3 title. The Bull (CYCA), sailed by Dave Doherty, finished runner-up, while Swish (RSYS), sailed by Steve Proud, completed the podium. The racing was close, with only three points separating the top three placegetters after eight races.
J/70 Australia thanks Zhik, the event sponsors, race management team, volunteers, and all competing crews for helping make the championship a success.
The Zhik J/70 NSW State Championship and J/Cup Australia #3 was another celebration of J/70 sailing and the strong camaraderie within the Australian sailing community.
