J/70 fleet growing

Published Tue 16 May 2023

We welcome to our new boat owners to the Australian J/70 fleet.

Kim Ketelbey launched her new boat Anemology AUS1623 in style recently at RSYS.  Anemology is the study of winds.

Also joining the Sydney fleet is Birubi AUS 7071 with Andrew Forbes and Katie O'Mara.  Birubi is an Indigenous name meaning Southern Cross.  Birubu Point is up at Port Stephens, and Andrew lived up there for a while so Katie and Andrew might be ones to watch at the upcoming Sail Port Stephens event.

If you are in Europe this year and you see the boat Kanguru AUS 1748 introduce yourself to Kristyn Gills.  Kristyn is an australian citizen living in Spain and is based in Palma de Mallorca and said 'Any boats coming to Europe, I am more than happy to help out as I do have a massive network here in Palma and the rest of the Mediterranean in the maritime industry. We will also have a lot of J/70’s Heading to Palma this winter after the 2023 worlds to start training and I am competing with the boat in the Spanish J/70 series which is mainly in Barcelona and Mallorca.'
